Construction of my new Bee started on Sunday. I epoxied the bottom planks together.
Today I examined the joints to find that the epoxy had set perfectly. But the planks were the wrong way round.
I sawed them apart.
Construction restarts when I calm down a bit.
I'm very sorry Chris - I confess I laughed out loud.
ReplyDeleteI made the same mistake once many years ago helping my son with a canoe. Ho hum, we all make mistakes.
Oh Dear Oh Dear, Laugh?
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of cutting the forefoot on Katie Beardie the wrong way round then trying to stitch the planks on upside down! You'll have her ready for the Thames Raid though?
You have our sympathy! I haven't done it myself, but I'm sure I've come close...
ReplyDeleteGraham's got your mistake by meters, Chris. I think he drinks more port than the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteBee? Maybe I should know this, but I don't... What's a Bee?
ReplyDelete"been there" "done that" It is a remarkably common mistake. I even did it once on a perfectly symmetrical boat. Wrong way symmetry? Yes, if you're aiming for "book matching." Oh well, she'll be one saw kerf narrower.
Bob - the Bee is a rowing/sailing boat - see http://www.sailingcatamarans.com/bee.htm
ReplyDeleteOops! I think you have created the eBe or perhaps its an eeB.
ReplyDeleteI had to see the design. Why would anyone put such an interesting boat shape on such an ugly car?
ReplyDeleteA journey of a thousand miles begins with a single beer.
